By John Eberhard

I am extremely excited to be releasing a CD of original songs entitled “One Lifetime is Not Enough” on After the Future Records. The genre is essentially pop music with a heavy jazz influence, similar to Sting or Steely Dan.

All songs are written by me, and I played the drums, all keyboard parts, and sang all the vocals. I was extremely fortunate to have some incredible musicians play solos on the CD, including some musicians I have played with over the years, including Mitch Talevi (guitar), Larry Williams (guitar), Kurt Belshaw (guitar) and Rex Perry (synthesizer).

In addition, one of the songs on the CD features world famous saxophonist Eric Marienthal, and one song features world famous guitarist Frank Gambale (both veterans of the Chick Corea Elektric Band).

My goal for this CD was first of all to have high quality songs, and I wanted the music to be compelling, and also for the song lyrics to be compelling. Then I wanted the recording and production values to be of the highest quality, so over the process of recording it had to learn a lot about recording engineering and mastering to pull that off. Luckily, YouTube has an abundance of training videos in that area.

I hope that people experiencing this music will take the time to read the lyrics, as that part of the music is very important to me. You can see all the lyrics for the CD here:

The first single to be released from the CD will be ”Home Tonight” featuring Mitch Talevi on guitar. This will be released on all streaming services on August 18, 2023.
